100 X 100

3th edition

NEW TOWERS – Fish Market

9 Set. – 25 Nov. 2023

From 9 September to 11 November, I have the honor to participate in the third edition of the collective painting exhibition 100X100 , organized by Rui Antunes which will be presented on the site of the old Fish Market of Torres Novas.

The theme is open and free. The techniques, The influences, the compositions and descriptions of each work exhibited have been assumed by the artists according to their own criteria, desires and methods. Only one requirement : paint on a surface 100 through 100 cm.

I chose to present a painting entitled “Lisbon”, an abstract representation in homage to Fernando Pessoa and his iconic poem about Lisbon, titled “Lisbon with its houses of different colors…” (Lisbon with its houses of various colors…). This work is an explosion of colors and shapes, capturing the dynamic essence of the city and the complexity of the spirit of Pessoa.

The canvas is a visual symphony of bright, bold tones. The colors mix and overlap in a joyful dance, creating an atmosphere of energy and vitality. Passionate reds, bright yellows, deep blues and brilliant greens blend together to form a captivating visual kaleidoscope. Each shade is carefully chosen to express the richness and diversity of Lisbon, evoking Pessoa's inner emotions.

The poem is subtly present in orange watermark, discreet but present.

We perceive a “existential angst”, loneliness and the quest for escape.

With this creation, I wanted to pay homage to him in colors !
