The Final Touch

Tonight, with slow strokes of the brush, I'm applying the final layer of varnish to a large canvas. A last caress, a silent thank-you to this painting that has kept me company day after day, in a quiet conversation of colours and emotions.

I feel a deep joy, a sense of fulfilment: everything I had to give, I've put into it. Each glint of light, each texture tells a part of my story, and with this last gesture, I seal our time together. And yet there's a tender ache too. The bond between us, almost alive during the whole creative process, is coming to an end.

Tomorrow morning, when I look at it again, it will shine with a new light. The soft sadness will give way to a smile, because I'll know it's ready. Ready to leave the studio, ready to find a home where it will brighten the days of people who, I'm sure, will take good care of it.

Every ending is a beginning. Tonight, this varnish doesn't close a story: it starts a new journey.
