From 26 to 29 October 2023, the historic Cordoaria Nacional in Lisbon hosted the second edition of All You Need is Art, a festival organised by the art critic Linda de Sousa to celebrate the diversity of today's Portuguese art scene. I was there, at stand 46, with my latest paintings.
Artists in the spotlight
Over four days, the festival honoured Portuguese artists for their contribution to the country's culture, in many disciplines: Paulo Faustino (theatre), Arlinda Mestre (photography), Júlio Quaresma (painting), José Veiga Freire (ceramics), Leonel dos Santos (sculpture), Luís Geraldes (digital art), Ramona Galardi (art as therapy) and Natália Espinel, director of ArtNexus magazine.
Two tributes
This edition paid tribute to two major figures: the actress Rita Ribeiro, celebrating 50 years of career in theatre and television, and the poet Florbela Espanca, whose poems were read by several Portuguese artists.
Debates and music
Alongside the exhibitions, there was a debate on women's rights, equality and mental health, as well as musical performances. A book with the biographies and contact details of all the participating artists was also on sale, only at the festival.
