Centro de Artes da Ericeira: a New Art Gallery in Ericeira

This article was written when the gallery opened: the opening hours and welcome team mentioned below date from that time. Today, I mostly welcome visitors at my own studio in Ericeira, during my Open House days, in spring and early December.
The Centro de Artes da Ericeira is more than an art gallery: it's a small adventure that came to life thanks to Ron Logan, an American painter and the gallery's founder. On behalf of all the local artists, thank you, Ron, for giving us this chance to meet the public and share our love of art.
From a spark to a gallery
It all started with a series of happy coincidences and a lot of teamwork. In early July, Ron came to me with his idea: a space to celebrate the diversity of local artists. At first, it was just a spark. His passion for art and his wish to create a home for creativity did the rest.
The road wasn't easy. There were plenty of obstacles, but Ron and his team faced them with real determination and countless hours of work. Their perseverance paid off: the gallery has become part of local life.
The opening on 12 August
The opening on 12 August was a very special moment: nine local artists showing their work, visitors full of enthusiasm, eyes lighting up. The gallery is in a historic building in the heart of Ericeira, once home to the OVNI stationery shop, which sold little toys and delighted the village children. Seeing it become a place for art, stories and emotions is quite something.
Each work on the walls carries a part of its artist's soul, and every visitor who walks through the door becomes part of the gallery's story.
The artists
At the time of the opening, the gallery was open every day from 11 am to 9 pm. I was there at weekends, and Joséphine and Susana welcomed visitors on the other days. You could discover the work of Ida Hasselmann, Sonia Queimado, Jo Seixas da Silva, Ron Logan, Alain Added, Jim Steere, Mr. Greb, Ines Gato, Prunelle Chappert and, of course, mine.
One thing this adventure reminded me: with perseverance and passion, dreams can become reality. To follow my path since then, have a look at my exhibitions page.
