On a very deep black, like a night without a sound, colours light up: they cross, overlap, answer one another. Some stay clean and separate, others melt together.
I painted it thinking about the strength we find in hard times. Camus wrote: "In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer." That is what the colours are doing on this black.
It belongs to my Colors in Freedom collection. I tell its story in more detail on my blog.
Would you like to see it in person? I welcome visitors to my studio in Ericeira, by appointment: send me a message on WhatsApp.
