Between is a canvas about the space between things. On a soft grey background full of texture, a few simple shapes find their place: a black rectangle, a cream shape with a rounded edge, a yellow half-circle, and a tall red wedge with its blue dot, like a big exclamation mark.
Two fine black lines link them together, a curve that goes around and a straight line that runs to the red. Nothing touches completely, and yet everything holds.
A graphic, joyful painting, with plenty of air, that brings calm and a little smile to a room.
Between is part of my series Les Essentiels, alongside Dear Calder.
Would you like to see it in person? I welcome visitors to my studio in Ericeira, by appointment: send me a message on WhatsApp.
