Carrare is a diptych painted for a commission. Its colours come from Carrara marble, the one Michelangelo went to choose himself in the quarries, and from stone in general.
The tones drift into each other, like clouds made of earth instead of sky. Two square canvases of 80 × 80 cm, hung side by side.
It belongs to my Soft Shades collection.
