Charlemagne is a commissioned painting, made with Caran d'Ache oils on canvas. Greens lead the way, from deep to almost pale, with softer tones slipping in between. I let them melt into each other, without hard edges.
It is a quiet canvas. Nothing shouts, the colours just sit next to each other and breathe. The oil keeps every tone soft and full, and the greens change a little with the light of the day.
It belongs to my Soft Shades and Colors in Freedom collections.
