In the middle of a bright pink background, squares sit one inside the other, each outlined in black. Yellow, violet, turquoise and red take turns, from the edge to the centre.
Josef Albers spent years painting squares inside squares, just to see what one colour does to the one next to it. Mine are more playful and more seventies, but the pleasure is the same: simple shapes, and colour doing all the work.
It belongs to my Pop Seventies collection.
Would you like to see it in person? I welcome visitors to my studio in Ericeira, by appointment: send me a message on WhatsApp.
