A childhood memory is behind this one: the patterns of Scottish kilts, those straight lines that cross and cross again. Here they are in deep reds and warm oranges, with a few touches of blue and green, like the thin threads running through a tartan.

Nothing is measured, the lines are drawn freehand, but the grid holds. At 100 × 100 cm it has a strong presence, and a warmth a bit like a wool blanket in winter.

It belongs to my Colors in Freedom collection.
