In Japan, when a bowl breaks, it is sometimes mended with gold, and the crack becomes the most beautiful part. That is kintsugi. On a golden background I painted a free shape with a dark heart, crossed with red, yellow and black, all cracked, then sealed under a glossy resin like a stone.
Leonard Cohen sang it better than I can: "There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in." Here the gold does not hide the fractures, it follows them.
