In Marseille, when I was a child, the floors were covered with mallons, those hexagonal terracotta tiles. On this canvas they have turned blue, in gradients, on a bright yellow background, and they also look a bit like a honeycomb.
The blues are the sea and the sky of the South, the yellow is the sun on the tiles. It is part of my Pop series: a very graphic painting that holds a lot of memories.
It belongs to my Pop Seventies collection.
