Milan 1906 was organised to celebrate the opening of the Simplon tunnel through the Alps. So the big theme was transport: a whole exhibition about getting from one place to another.

I like that idea of movement on a canvas: shapes that seem to be going somewhere, in blue, yellow, orange and black. Canvas 16 of the 20 in my World's Fair series, to hang alone or together.

It belongs to my Pop Seventies collection.

The 20 canvases of the series (the complete set):
1. Londres 1851 · 2. Paris 1855 · 3. Londres 1862 · 4. Paris 1867 · 5. Vienne 1873 · 6. Philadelphie 1876 · 7. Paris 1878 · 8. Melbourne 1880 · 9. Barcelone 1888 · 10. Paris 1889 · 11. Chicago 1893 · 12. Bruxelles 1897 · 13. Paris 1900 · 14. Saint Louis 1904 · 15. Liege 1905 · 16. Milan 1906 · 17. Bruxelles 1910 · 18. Gand 1913 · 19. San Francisco 1915 · 20. Barcelone 1929
